Process

Brew Day
  1. Design or select a batch recipe
  2. Calculate water volumes & temperatures for Mash and Sparge 
  3. Measure & Heat Strike Water
  4. Measure & Mill Grains
  5. Add water and grains to Mash Tun
  6. Stir; Establish Temperature; Seal & start 60 minute timer
  7. Measure Hops
  8. Measure & Heat Sparge Water
  9. End the Mash
  10. Vorlauft - pull 1-2 quarts of the wort into pitcher & sprinkle back on top
  11. Lauter first runnings
  12. Perform a single or double batch sparge; stir
  13. Vorlauft 
  14. Light burner
  15. Lauter second runnings
  16. Bring to a boil
  17. Add hops & additions per recipe
  18. Flameout
  19. Chill wort
  20. Add whirlpool hops if necessary at 170-180F
  21. Rack to primary carboy
  22. Aerate
  23. Take Original Gravity (OG) reading
  24. Pitch Yeast
  25. Keep in prescribed temperature for fermentation 
Bottling Day
  1. Take Final Gravity (FG) to ensure fermentation is complete
  2. Bring 16oz of water to a boil
  3. Add calculated amount of sugar; stir
  4. Boil 15 minutes
  5. Remove from heat & cool
  6. Rack beer from carboy to sanitized bottling bucket with sugar solution
  7. Use bottling wand on bucket spigot to fill sanitized bottles
  8. Cap
  9. Add cap stickers and bottle labels
  10. Leave bottles at room temperature for 14-21 days to carbonate
  11. Chill & Enjoy!
